Tarporley News

Our Club was lucky enough to receive over 200 greetings cards donated by a local Department store which, unfortunately closed down after many years’ trading. We managed to sell them all at the knockdown price of £1.00 each.

For many years we have provided tea and cakes at the Tarporley Carnival but last year we threw away our aprons in favour of Vintage Jewellery! We searched our jewellery boxes and asked family and friends to do the same. Our stall looked amazing and proved very popular and funds raised surpassed all our expectations.

We will, however, be back to tea and cakes next month. We start filling Rotary shoe boxes in November and with the help of the local Primary school and Methodist chapel we managed to fill 185 boxes, our best ever total. These were collected by

Rotary early in December for distribution where needed abroad.

Tarporley’s Jubilee celebrations included a Big Camp Out for families on the playing field. Little windy, but the rain held off. We provided hot and cold drinks and hot dogs on a stall run jointly with Secretary Brenda’s Guide company. Lots of very excited children and very tired parents.

We are looking forward to our outing in July for Afternoon Tea and let someone else do the washing up.

Sadly, in April, we lost one of our founder members Barbara Hitchen. She had served as both our President and Treasurer in the past. A very enthusiastic and popular member of our Club she will be very much missed.
